Frequently asked questions

  • Image licensing gives you the legal right to use Boxcar Media’s photos or videos for specific purposes. Rather than transferring ownership, licensing outlines how and where the content can be used—such as in marketing campaigns, websites, social media, internal communications, or print materials. Our simple licensing structure is designed to give clients maximum value and flexibility, while protecting both your investment and our creative work. We’ll always clarify what’s included up front, so you know exactly how you can use the visuals.

  • Yes. Boxcar Media is fully licensed and insured for all of our operations, including aerial drone work. We are compliant with Transport Canada regulations and carry the necessary coverage to ensure every project is conducted safely and professionally. This gives our clients peace of mind knowing that both people and property are protected while we capture exceptional visuals.

  • A deposit is required to secure your booking, with the remaining balance due upon project completion and before final delivery of images or video. For larger productions, staged payments may be arranged. We’ll outline all costs and timelines clearly in your proposal so there are no surprises.

  • Boxcar Media is based in Calgary, Alberta, and we regularly serve clients across Western Canada. For assignments beyond our home base, we travel throughout Canada and the United States as needed. In addition, our team of dedicated associate photographers—strategically based in the Midwest United States and Eastern Canada—are able to execute projects on behalf of Boxcar Media, ensuring efficient coverage and consistent quality no matter where your assignment is located.

  • Yes—drones can be flown indoors in certain environments, provided the space is large enough and safe to operate. Indoor drone flights are useful for capturing unique perspectives of facilities, shops, or warehouses. At Boxcar Media, safety is always the top priority, so we carefully assess each location to determine feasibility and mitigate risks before flying.

  • For every project, Creative Lead Ryan Gaynor will be your main point of contact from start to finish. Ryan oversees planning, production, and final delivery to ensure your vision is executed with precision and consistency. For larger assignments, our associate photographers and crew may be involved in the shoot itself, but Ryan remains your dedicated contact to keep communication clear and the process seamless.
